The committee also voted to recommend boosters for people ages 18 to 64 with underlying medical conditions. That’s in line with what the Food and Drug Administration recommended earlier this week. Booster shots for people who are fully vaccinated withModernaandJohnson & Johnsonaren’t authorized yet. The decision to allow boosters was about “providing, rather than withholding,” Walensky said.

Counties that have high transmission have had 100 or more cases of COVID in the past seven days.
