Disney has appointed a media and entertainment executive to oversee the company’smetaversestrategy. The metaverse is often described as online spaces where people can socialize, work and play as avatars. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced theacquisition of video game giant ActivisionBlizzardas part of its expansion into the metaverse.
Simultaneously, Disney lost $4 billion in its direct-to-consumer services last year, according to the filing.
It waspreviously reportedby Axios. Each company blamed the other for the weekend blackout. Dish didn’t respond to a request for comment about returning to the negotiation table. And this certainly isn’tthefirsttimeDish has butted heads with a company over a carriage contract. Most recently, on Tuesday, theGame Show connection was restored to Dish and Sling TVfollowing a three-week blackout.
Organizers say thecompany’s recent actions and statementsdon’t adequately address the threat to the safety of LGBTQ individuals. “You cannot fix this with educational seminars or token background characters,” reads the open letter. Disney didn’t respond to a request for comment. These actions are the latest example of rank-and-file employees publicly demonstrating opposition to the political stance of their company.
The membership program would help customers of oneDisney product or servicereceive discounts for others. Disney already offers some added benefits to Disney Plus members for other Disney properties. Disney’s job cuts are part of a $5.5 billion cost-saving plan, Iger said. Shares were up 5.7% at $118.18 in recent after-hours trading.

The Duo Premium plan features both Disney Plus Premium and Hulu for $20 a month. CEO Bob Iger announced the new plan during the company’s third-quarter earnings call in August. Bear in mind that prices for the Trio Basic and Trio Premium plans areset to increase on Oct. 12.
