Verizon gained some wireless users last quarter, but the uptick appears to have been short-lived. On Tuesday the carrier reported a net loss of 127,000 postpaid phone users for its first quarter. Consumer wireless struggles have becomea trend for Verizon in recent quarters. It remains to be seen what the carrier will do. While the wireless phone unit has struggled, the carrier did see significant growth in its broadband division....

Verizon is adjusting some of its fees for consumers and business users. Hotspots will remain unchanged. “To that end, Verizon will be implementing some changes beginning in June.” The new fees for business users, however, are a result of the changing economy. Verizon is the latest wireless provider to adjust costs this month. Update, 1:06 p.m. PT, May 16: Adds Verizon’s change about fees for tablets and smartwatches.

Now the lowest-priced plan starts at $45 per month for 15 GB of data.

Customers can also save $20 a month with select unlimited wireless plans. Customers who order online will also have the $99 setup fee waived.

The report, released in May, also found that Fios provided the best consistency in broadband quality.

According toDowndetector, more than 41,000 reports flooded the site at around midnight to 2 a.m. The most-reported cities with Verizon outages included Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Washington, DC area and Los Angeles. Some areas of the midwest also appeared to be affected,according to Downdetector’s heatmap. Verizon is making some small adjustments to its cheapest unlimited plan in its latest bid to lure new users. The new deal starts on Friday. Verizon’s change is available to new users of Welcome Unlimited. If you have Welcome Unlimited right now you’re stuck with the rate you have. Verizon is adding a new $2 fee to some of its older unlimited plans, CNET has confirmed. The Go and Beyond planswere introduced in 2018while Verizon Unlimited wasannounced back in 2017. Verizon is getting a bit more aggressive with its attempts to grow its home internet base.

The bump amounts to just over $16 per year for each line. In June the carrier raised rates forusers who were still on its older, shared data plans.

Have an older Verizon unlimited plan? The carrier would really like you to move to one of its newer (and potentially pricier) options. The earlier “1.0” versions of these plans sawtheir own price hikes get revealed back in February. Verizon says its newer plans aren’t affected by this latest hike.
