The expansion of its “Hyper-Gig” plans comes after itsrollout to 70 different metro regionsin late January. These are all-new fiber areas for AT&T. Both plans include equipment fees, unlimited data and a freeHBO Maxsubscription. There are also no annual contracts required, nor a price increase after 12 months. Effective through the end of March, all new customers ordering online will receive a $200 reward card.
The change follows similar moves by AT&T’s wireless rivals.

AT&T is moving closer to offloading satellite TV provider DirecTV,The Wall Street Journalreported Wednesday. The price tag could be more than $15 billion, including debt. AT&T declined to comment. The telecommunications giant bought DirecTV in 2015 for about $66 billion, including debt.
“We will work closely with our customers throughout this transition. The new broadband law comes into effect after the federal Affordable Connectivity Program ran out of funds last year. TheACP affected 23 million households. The US Supreme Courtdecided in December that it wouldn’t hear challenges to the new law.
Unvaccinated AT&T managers who must work from an office need to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 11. The vaccination requirement comes as thehighly contagious delta variantof the coronavirus spreads globally. Tech giants likeGoogleandMicrosofthave already said they’ll require employees to get shots.
The company will include the DirecTV, AT&T TV Now and U-Verse video services. The deal values AT&T’s DirecTV business at $16.25 billion. Existing content deals will also transfer over to New DirecTV, including NFL Sunday Ticket.

But later, the carrier will use the satellite web connection to help connect consumer communications, as Bloombergreportedearlier. This isn’t AT&T’s first attempt to add satellite coverage to its mobile web connection. Verizon hasn’t been sitting out the satellite connectivity race, either.
