Childers said he hopes to have the coroner’s determination on the cause of death by Wednesday afternoon.
“We are assisting law enforcement in their investigation.”
Excelsior Springs is about 30 miles northeast of Kansas City, Missouri.
A deputy shot one of the dogs because they feared they’d be attacked, Childers said.
Once Childers arrived at the scene, he entered the home and shot both dogs.
