Fauci to Retire as Chief Medical Adviser to President Biden

After leading the country's responses to COVID-19, HIV and other public health threats, Fauci says he's stepping down from government in December.

He also said he’s not retiring from science or public health.

“While I am moving on from my current positions, I am not retiring,” Fauci said.

It was during the Reagan administration in the ’80s that Fauci first served as NIAID director.

It was previously reported that Fauci wouldstep away from his government postsby the end of Biden’s term.

Biden’s current term runs through January 2025.
