Halo is launching a driverless car servicein Las Vegas that will run onT-Mobile’s5Gnetwork.
The electric vehicles will be available for regular customer use this year.
Though driverless, Halo’s cars aren’t autonomous.
Instead, the company uses proprietary technology to allow remote drivers to control the vehicles.
But remote control isn’t Halo’s endgame.
While drivers are piloting the cars from afar, an artificial intelligence is learning from them.
Correction, 8:26 a.m. PT:An earlier version of this story misstated Halo’s status.
It is a startup and doesn’t have a parent company.
