Hitting that population means the Ultra Wideband service qualifies as nationwide availability according to the Federal Communications Commission.

Verizon’s turnaround was driven by generous promotions and trade-in offers. But consumers will see fewer financial incentives to switch going forward. Broadband gains were much more modest, with 59,000 Fios wired internet net additions. The carrier reported net income of $6.7 billion, or $1.56 earnings per share. Its adjusted earnings were $1.19 per share, exactly meeting expectations ofanalysts polled by Yahoo Finance.

In recent quarters Verizon has seencustomers fleeamidprice hikesand increased competition. Verizon says that fewer phone upgrades were responsible for this drop. The company’s business unit added 133,000 wireless broadband users during the quarter. Verizon says it now has “nearly” 2.3 million people using its wireless broadband service.

Verizon’sexpansion of its5Gnetwork on Jan. 19 won’t just increase speeds on the go. These are comparable to the speeds offered by the wired fiber-optic Verizon Fios service. The perks show the long road Verizon has ahead as it looks to add 5G Home customers.

The Verizon trial works with a variety of recent Apple, Samsung and Google devices. As with other carrier trial programs your phone will need to be unlocked to try this. Verizonautomatically unlocks phones, even those bought on installment plans, after 60 days. T-Mobileautomatically unlocks after all unit payments are completed.

The prior model only supported mmWave and 4G. Verizon Home 5G covers over30 million homesin900 citiesin the US. Verizon is releasing a new Home 5G receiver, which receives 5G signals to send to a router.

In MarchVerizon announced Plus Play, a central location to manage all your streaming services and subscriptions. Verizon’s website hassteps on how to migrate a Netflix account. Instead, it will direct you to that service’s app or website. But it will give you 2% back on Plus Play subscriptions ifyou pay with its Verizon-branded credit card. It hasn’t specified when that might happen, however. It also hasn’t announced when the service will be available to its prepaid wireless users....

All three, which were released back in late 2012, are picking up Android 4.4.2. It’s not the latest version of Android, but it sure beats getting left behind altogether. According toDroid Life, the plus-size smartphone can be updated using Samsung Kies or the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant.

The unit will feature an 8-inch 1,280x800 display, 4GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Tech support seems to be a key focus for Verizon with this rig.

Visible, Verizon’s digital prepaid brand, is changing up its offerings. Each price is for a single line as the company only offers single lines. The difference between the two plans comes in high-speed 5G and international use. The older $40 monthly Visible plan included faster 5G access but capped the speeds at 200Mbps.

Hidden chats, messages from Viber Pay and business texts are excluded from these folders. Viber’s new organization features come a week after feature updates for rival chat apps WhatsApp and Signal. WhatsApp isadding support for bulleted listsand other text formats that can help spell out instructions.

Victrola on Thursday unveiled the Stream Carbon, the firstturntablethat connects natively to theSonos streaming platform. It can then play to any or all Sonos speakers in your home. In addition to Ethernet and wireless, the turntable also includes a stereo RCA output using the onboard preamp. The manual turntable features a carbon-fiber tonearm and a removable headshell mounted with an Ortofon Red 2M cartridge. The Stream Carbon is available for preorder today and will be “available widely” in October....
